Curious about what’s in your food?

My friend Denise reminded me about a website that is a great resource for anyone who wants to research his or her food. Check out http://www.nutritiondata.com. Enter the food you are curious about in the upper right corner and hit the Search button. You will see nutrition facts (the usual fats, carbs, proteins, vitamins, minerals, etc.) as well as the glycemic load, inflammatory factor, and “how nutritious it is.” It even lists some foods from your favorite (ahem!) fast food joints. Remember, as one of my instructor’s favorite sayings go — “Every bite you is an act of nourishment or an act of assisted suicide. You choose.” Something to think about, huh!
